THE A72 has re-opened following this morning's fire at a chemical plant in Walkerburn.
But fire crews remain at the Rathburn factory to dampen down.
A loud explosion was heard in the village at around 6.40 this morning.
Two fire crews and two specialist vehicles were rushed to the scene.
Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire & Rescue told us: "We were alerted at 6.44am to reports of a fire within an industrial unit in Walkerburn.
"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and two specialist resources due to potentially hazardous materials, and firefighters are working to extinguish the flames.
"Two casualties have been treated at the scene, and crews remain in attendance."
The fire forced the closure of the village school for the day and bus services operating along the road were cancelled.
The A72 re-opened just after 11am.
