A MAIN road in Galashiels was closed to motorists this morning following reports of a car on fire.
Outside the local fire station on Abbotsford Road a car was reportedly on fire after 10.20am.
Diversions were put in place on the A7 as one crew was called to tackled the blaze.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.21am on Thursday, December 13, to reports of a fire affecting a vehicle outside Galashiels Fire Station, Abbotsford Road, Galashiels.
“Operations control immediately mobilised a fire engine and firefighters extinguished the fire.
“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
