A MISSING man was found safe following a late night search in the hills and woodland around a Borders town.
Borders Search and Rescue Unit were called out on Friday night to search for the 26-year-old man whose disappearance from his home in Jedburgh, was causing a significant concern for Police Scotland and his family. Fourteen members of the Unit from as far afield as Berwick and Edinburgh searched steep-sided gullies which were extremely slippery due to the persistent rain during the day.
After two hours the man was discovered around midnight physically unharmed and taken to Borders General Hospital near Melrose, for checks.
It was one of a number of events which have kept Borders Search and Rescue teams busy for the last month.
With the summer approaching, the team will be at many events in the Borders, providing first aid and emergency backup, but they hope they won’t be too busy.
On Sunday, the public turned out to help in the search of two missing people in Clovenfords.
The resilient communities exercise has been praised by organisers.
Scottish Borders Council, Police Scotland and Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue were all involved in the search, along with 22 volunteers.
