BELL, Isobel

BELL. - Isobel Scott, 80, died peacefully at home on November 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a hard- fought battle with motor neuron disease. Isobel was born in Galashiels and was predeceased in 1986 by her loving husband, Ian Bell, also of Galashiels. She served as an Attendant to the Braw Lass in 1951. The family emigrated to the USA in 1968. "Is" returned to celebrate the Gala Day every year from 2002 through 2011, which marked her 60th anniversary as an Attendant. Isobel is survived by her two beloved children, daughter Ann and husband Rick, son Ian and wife Rosemary, and her dear beloved sister Nan Turner of Galashiels. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Myra (Bell) Pringle of Hawick, half- sister Joyce (Scott) Chase, grandchildren, Scott and Sara, her best friend Jean Donegan, many nieces and nephews in Gala and Hawick, and her cherished honorary daughter and caregiver April and husband Billy. A standing room only memorial service was held on November 23 at the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany, New Jersey, USA.
