TWEEDBANK Community Council revealed it has no objections to the Great Tapestry of Scotland being sited opposite the new rail terminus in the village.
Members heard only 15 members of the public attended an open night to discuss the plans at the community centre – despite some vocal opposition to the multi-million pound project.
Concerns were raised over the impact on neighbouring trees.
Community councillor Alistair Paul said: “As far as planning goes, it’s a good looking building.” Councillor Jim Torrance, who represents the area on Scottish Borders Council, added: “We had a couple of people who were against it and by the time they left they were all for it.” The community council also supported plans for a change of use at the former Barbour factory in Tweedbank, from industrial to educational, to allow Borders College to move on to the site.
