THE body of a man has been discovered in a close leading from Galashiels just after noon today.

Police officers were called to the town's High Street at 12.20pm.

The area remains cordoned off and officers are treating the death as unexplained. 

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Galashiels responded to the High Street at around 12.20pm on Friday 27th November following the discovery of a man's body.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing."
