A NUMBER of previously protected trees have been brought to the ground in Tweedbank to make way for the tapestry building.
The Great Tapestry of Scotland will be housed in a visitor centre opposite the village's railway terminus, and some residents are furious that this has come at the cost of a natural woodland area.
The number of trees that the council would sacrifice to make way for the tapestry building has been a serious concern for the community since they found out it was coming to Tweedbank, and today their fears have been realised.
Work is due to commence on the construction of the building in March of 2016 with the building opening in the spring of 2017, around April or May.
