THE Melrose bypass will close overnight for three days next month.
A half-kilometre stretch of the A6091, near the Borders General Hospital, is getting resurfaced.
The bypass, which runs between Melrose and Galashiels, will shut from 9pm to 6am on November 24, 25 and 26.
A diversion route will be signposted via the A7, A699 and A68, adding approximately 11 miles and 18 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will help to address the defects on this section of the A6091 and will greatly improve the experience for motorists.
“It is essential that we close the road during these works to ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact."
Emergency services will be able to use the closed routes and local residents who live along the closure will be given access when safe to do so.
