A BORDERS dance school has won an international award.
Fiona Henderson School of Dance (FHSD), on Old Church Road, Peebles, was awarded the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing ‘Innovation in the teaching of Dance’ award at the 2020 Dance School Awards during a ceremony on Friday, October 23.
School principal Fiona Henderson said: “We’re delighted to receive this award and it is particularly appreciated as all the finalists are judged by their leading dance industry peers.
“It’s a wonderful reward for all our teaching staff who are so dedicated in bringing the joy of dance to all our pupils.”

The awards ceremony was streamed online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It is the third time the Peebles school has been recognised at the awards, having won in the category of schools with 200+ pupils in 2018, following that up by winning silver in 2019 in the category with 300+ pupils.
The finalists for each award were chosen following entries across the UK, Australia, Canada, USA, Bahrain, Dubai and Europe.
School of Dance Awards confirmed on their Facebook page that all awards are in the post and on the way to the winners.
The award comes at a busy time for FHSD, with the school set to open new dance branches in Moffat and Penicuik at the beginning of November.
