PLANNED overnight closures along the A7 and A6091 due later this month have been rearranged.
Originally the A7 was going to close on November 11 until November 23 (excluding weekends) and the A6091 would be closed November 24-26.
However, these dates have been rescheduled in line with works on local roads earmarked as diversion routes.
The A7 will now close from November 23 until December 4 (not including November 28 and 29) from 8pm to 6am each day. This closure will still run between Hawick and Canonbie.
The A6091 will close on December 4 and 7 between 9pm and 6am each day.
The B7201, B6357 and A6088 will be used as diversion routes for the A7 works and will add approximately 6 miles and 15 minutes to journeys.
Signs will be in place directing motorists who would normally use the A6091 to the A7, A699 and A68. This will add 11 miles and 18 minutes to affected journeys.
The combined cost of the resurfacing works to both roads comes to £738,000.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East representative, said: “We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
