AN appeal has been launched after a Galashiels woman was targeted by bogus workmen.
The resident was approached by men claiming to work for Everwarm – offering a replacement boiler.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "An elderly resident in Galashiels was approached in her garden by a male 'Patrick' claiming to work for Everwarm and offering a replacement boiler.
"Another man 'Tony' subsequently attended at her house, was invited in and appeared to carry out a 'survey' of the house in every room.
"Enquiries show that these males did not work for Everwarm and appeared to be bogus callers.
"No financial loss occurred in this instance, however, we strongly advise not to engage with callers of this type and please call police on 101 or 999 in an emergency to report."
