A BORDERS cinema has upgraded its facilities and introduced a new programme of films as it welcomes the public back.
The Eastgate Theatre, in Peebles, reopened its doors earlier this month after having to temporarily close in March due to coronavirus.
Thanks to a grant from Screen Scotland just before the lockdown, upgrades have been carried out in the theatre, with the venue now boasting upgraded projection and sound systems “that bring sharper, brighter images to the screen, and a much richer surround sound in the theatre”.
“We are so pleased to be open to welcome audiences into the building and to offer them such a high-quality, immersive experience,” said Caroline Adam, the Eastgate’s general manager.
“We also have big plans to expand our film offering even further over the coming months.”

The new programme of films features a mix of mid-week movies, as well as family blockbusters on Saturday afternoons.
The Pavilion Cinema in Galashiels has also seen its facilities improved with a new audio set up, which includes assistive systems for the hard of hearing or visually impaired.
The manager of the Pavilion, Andrew Poole, says he is hoping for a busy Christmas schedule after a tough year for cinema.
“With the release of new films now looking more certain from the start of December, we will transition from screening classics to focusing more on new releases,” said Mr Poole.
“However, Christmas is a popular time for cinema going and we plan to start using all four screens again and offer a terrific choice of old and new Christmas movies over the festive period.”
