THE Borders has been warned of possible flooding in a new weather warning for tomorrow (Friday, December 4).
Persistent, sometimes heavy rain could begin at 6am tomorrow until midnight, according to the Met Office.
The experts have warned that there is a chance of homes and businesses flooding, as well as possible travel disruption on the roads and for rail and bus services.
However, at the time of publication, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has not issued a flood warning for the region.
The Met Office warns between 25mm to 50mm of rain could fall on Friday.
Areas which could be affected include Melrose, Lauder, Galashiels, and Walkerburn.
This latest warning is in addition to the yellow warning for snow, which could arrive in the Borders from 10pm tonight until 9am on Friday.
In a statement issued yesterday (December 2) a Met Office spokesperson warned that tonight's snowfall would "turn to persistent and at times heavy rain at lower levels".
Snow may settle for a brief time in areas at 100m above sea level, with 2-5cm of snow possible above 150m and 15-20cm at 400m or more.
According to the Met Office's warning impact matrix, the yellow rain warning has a medium likelihood and low impact, whereas the yellow warning for snow is predicted to have a very low likelihood and medium impact.
