A CORONAVIRUS outbreak has been announced at the Borders General Hospital.
NHS Borders says eight patients have tested positive in Ward 7, with a "small number" of staff members symptomatic and awaiting results.
Members of the Test and Protect team are in the process of tracing contacts.
The ward is closed to admissions, with all but essential visiting to the ward suspended.
Dr Ed James, consultant microbiologist, said: “A multidisciplinary team has been established to oversee the management of this outbreak and the situation will continue to be reviewed and monitored very closely.”
