THE leader of Scottish Borders Council is bidding to become an MSP.
Shona Haslam has been selected by the Conservatives as candidate for Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale constituency.
The Tweeddale East councillor posted on Twitter this evening (Friday, December 18): “Honour and privilege to be selected. Can. Not. Wait. To get stuck into campaigning."
The Scottish Parliament elections are set to take place on May 6.
Former Scottish Conservatives leader Jackson Carlaw tweeted: "Great news that @ShonaHaslam selected in Midlothian South.
"The only proper unionist candidate, a dedicated party activist and with a strong record of delivery at Borders Council [sic] she’ll make an outstanding MSP."
