BORDERS homeowners have been left “shaken and distressed” following a housebreaking, say police.
Officers say the incident in Melrose happened at around 7pm on Saturday (January 16) at a flat in Eildon Crescent.
Two men gained entry to the property, say police, but they ran off when a witness saw them. Nothing was stolen.
The two suspects are described as:
1) White, around 5ft 10ins and slim build. He was wearing a black beanie hat, black face mask and dark clothing.
2) White and around 5ft 11ins. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black snood and dark clothing.
Detective Constable Ashley Black said: "Although nothing was taken, the incident has understandably left the homeowners shaken and distressed.
“Enquiries are progressing and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious activity, or two men matching this description, to contact police.
"Even though the property was secure, I would take this opportunity to remind home owners to review their security – make sure you keep your doors and windows locked at all times.”
