A MAN who broke into a Borders pub and stole a quantity of cash has been placed on a night-time home curfew.
Bradley Pedder, 38, pleaded guilty to the theft by housebreaking offence at The Fleet in Mason Wynd, Eyemouth, on November 20.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told that at 12.40am police officers were in the area dealing with another enquiry when they heard repeated banging and an alarm going off.
Connor Muir, prosecuting, said: "They investigated a disturbance and found the pub window had been broken.
"They quickly came across the accused and he was found to have £13.51 on his person which had come from the public house."
Pedder made no reply to being cautioned and charged.
Defence lawyer Ross Dow said the incident had caused upset as a memorial window had been broken and his client was distressed as a result of this.
He had pleaded guilty to the charge straight away.
The cost of a new window was put at £400.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said he would have liked to have put the compensation payment at £400 but took into account Pedder's limited financial means and made it £200 to be paid at £30 a month.
Pedder, who gave an address in Gourlays Wynd, Duns, was placed on a night-time home curfew between the hours of 8pm and 7am.
