TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a Gala Opera stalwart.
Ken Leishman died at the Borders General Hospital on Sunday, January 31 aged 86.
And tributes were paid at a virtual meeting of Galashiels Community Council on Wednesday, February 3.
Betty Scott, a member of the public, said: “Kenny was a member of the Gala Local Relief Fund and had a lot to do with Gala Opera.
“He will be a great miss to the town and I would like to pass on my condolences to his wife Audrey and his family.”
Galashiels Amateur Operatic Society also posted a tribute on social media.
It reads: “Though never actually performing on stage, Ken Leishman formed part of the stage crew and in fact took on the role of stage manager for many years.
“His expertise in these areas was invaluable and a huge asset to the society until his retirement a number of years ago.
“He will be sadly missed by all and our condolences go out to Ken’s wife Audrey and the family.”
