FOUR glamping pods could be erected near a Borders village, with plans for a “family-run business” having been submitted to the council.
The site is located on the eastern side of Old Stage Road, near to Stow and Fountainhall, according to papers being put to Scottish Borders Council.
The proposals – prepared on behalf of client Nick Swanson by Leeds-based DP Cad Design – set out the intention to build three accommodation pods and one ‘dining’ pod.
“This glamping site will be a small, family-run business which will allow guests to visit the local attractions and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Guests will be encouraged to shop locally and visit other local amenities in Stow, thus helping to improve footfall to local shops all year round,” state papers on the proposals.

The papers continue: “This glamping site will be able to offer accommodation all year round in our geodesic dome which other traditional camping sites simply cannot offer.
“This will be a major unique selling point and could help improve visitors to the area.”
The aluminium-framed domes will be “covered in a green PVC architectural membrane” to blend into the surroundings.
Standing at 4.75m tall, the dining dome will be taller than the three accommodation domes (4.1m).
A new parking area will also be constructed, if plans are approved, with space for six standard parking bays for guests and visitors.
