A MAN has been charged in connection with two handbag thefts in the Borders.
It follows reported incidents in Melrose on Tuesday (June 15), where items were taken from two cars.
Police have confirmed a 62-year-old man has been charged in connection with the thefts.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The incidents happened on High Cross Avenue and High Street and in both cases handbags and items contained within were taken.
"Officers would remind the public to be cautious of what is displayed within vehicles and to always ensure valuables are stored away safely and securely.
"A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
