MOTORISTS in the Borders are being warned about lane closures set to be in place on a major road from next week.
A series of safety barriers on the A7 between Hawick and Arkleton will be upgraded between August 9-30, according to BEAR Scotland.
Between those dates, there will be lane closures on “short sections of the A7 on a rolling basis” from 7.30am until 5.30pm.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These safety barrier upgrades will improve safety for motorists on this section of the A7.
“Lane closures are essential for safety while also minimising disruption as these works take place.
“We will do all we can to ensure that the works are completed in good time and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
Traffic management will be removed after each day of work, allowing for both lanes to remain in use in the evenings, according to officials.
