A ROAD closure is set to result in “severe disruption” to Borders Buses services later this week, according to a spokesperson for the company.
In a statement issued today (August 24), the bus operators said the “full road closure” on Melrose Road, Galashiels, will take place from 9am on Sunday.
The Borders Buses spokesperson said that the number 60, 61, 69 and 70 services will be impacted.

On the 60 and 61 services, the spokesperson said that the normal route from the transport interchange to Paton Street will then divert via Braw Lads Brae, A7 Abbotsford Road, Tweed Road and Winston Road to re-join the B6374 Melrose Road at the bus stop near D S Dalgleish and Sons.
The spokesperson said: “Services arriving at Galashiels will follow the above route in reverse until Braw Lads Brae then via Currie Road and the normal route to the transport interchange.”
For the 69 service, departures from the transport interchange will be delayed by 10 minutes, according to the spokesperson.
It will then operate the normal route from the interchange to Paton Street before diverting via Braw Lads Brae and A7 Abbotsford Road.

Services arriving at Galashiels will again follow the above route in reverse until Braw Lads Brae, then via Currie Road and the normal route to the transport interchange.
According to the spokesperson, Langlee will not be served during this disruption by the 69 service for BGH/Melrose in both directions.
As for the 70 service, it will take the normal route from the transport interchange to Paton Street then divert via Braw Lads Brae, A7 Abbotsford Road, Tweed Road and Winston Road to re-join B6374 for Hawthorn Road.
