A GALASHIELS man threw a glass at another man at a party causing two cuts down the left hand side of his face.
Nineteen-year-old Jamie Ormiston pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to a charge of assault to injury which happened at a house in Laurel Grove, Galashiels, on July 18.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick said his client had reacted after the man had made disparaging remarks about his girlfriend which upset him.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said the consequences could have been far worse and imposed a Community Pay Back Order with 70 hours unpaid work.
