A FATHER and son have been ordered to pay £3,500 in compensation to a man they assaulted to his severe injury in Eyemouth at the start of last year.
Fifty-one-year-old John Deplacido – who runs a television aerial business in Loanhead – was told to pay £2,500 compensation, carry out 270 hours of unpaid work and placed under supervision for seven months.
Twenty-two-year-old John Harry Deplacido – who gave an address in Edinburgh – was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation, carry out 270 hours unpaid work and 12 months supervision.
The sentences were handed out at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after previously being convicted of the offence.
The case had been transferred from Jedburgh Sheriff Court as courts in the Borders are still unable to accommodate jury trials.
