A GALASHIELS man found in possession of a screwdriver has been fined £500 at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
Fifty-three-year-old Roy Chilcott, of Glendinning Terrace, pleaded guilty to being in possession of the bladed article on August 29.
Selkirk Sheriff Court was told that Chilcott had gone to a man's house for a drinking session and the police were called.
When officers arrived a man said Chilcott was in possession of a knife and the screwdriver was found during a search.

Defence lawyer Ross Dow said his client had been using the tool to scrape tools from a pathway but had left it in a pocket.
Sheriff Robert Fife said Chilcott had a bad record for carrying weapons.
He added he was going to impose a fine so that Chilcott had less money to spend on alcohol.
The fine was reduced from £750 to £500 to reflect the guilty plea with a £20 Victim Surcharge added.
