THE Borders saw a 6.5 per cent jump in house prices in August, new figures show.
The increase contributes to property prices in the region having the largest annual growth of any local authority in the UK, according to statistics from the Land Registry.
The average house price in the Borders in August 2020 was £150,283.
In August this year, the average price was £194,509 – a 29.4 per cent increase.
A 6.5 per cent rise in August is significantly higher than 1.7 per cent seen across Scotland, as well as the 2.9 per cent for the UK as a whole.
