SHOPKEEPERS parking on a Borders High Street are driving away potential customers, a meeting heard.
Peebles community councillor Scott Watson said he received a complaint from a member of the public about the issue.
He added: “I won’t mention the shop, but it’s parked there more or less every single day. Certainly more than 45 minutes.”
Mr Watson asked members and Tweeddale councillors what action could be taken to remedy the problem.

Councillor Robin Tatler said police do check parking on yellow lines and have issued fines.
He said: “As you know, we don’t have parking wardens anymore, but police will do this on an infrequent basis.”
It was suggested that the community council speak to shopkeepers to request that they park elsewhere.
Community councillor Elizabeth Rae, who works at a premises on Peebles High Street, said: “I have seen this regularly, shopkeepers parking on the High Street, and I have actually confronted three of them and asked them to move to the big car park to give our potential customers space to park, and two of the three have moved.”
