TODAY (Friday 3 December 2021) is International Day of Persons with Disabilities and Police Scotland say that they aim to ensure that people with disabilities or long-term conditions, both visible and hidden, are able to access their police service when they need it.
Previously people with disabilities have told officers that they sometimes feel less safe where they live.
In response Police Scotland say that they are working with local communities to create Keep Safe places for anyone feeling vulnerable when out in the community. There are currently over 900 across Scotland and the network continues to grow.
Officers also say that taking part in the ‘Your Police Survey’ is one way for people to express their views and needs.
Responses to Your Police Survey helps officers identify and eliminate obstacles and barriers for anyone who needs them and they would encourage everyone to take part to influence policing in their area.
Your Police Survey is available in easy read and British Sign Language formats.
