A WOMAN who failed to register the birth of her baby has been fined £150 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
The woman pleaded guilty to breaching the Registrations of Births, Deaths and Marriages Scotland Act 1965 between October 2020 and March 2021.
Her lawyer Ed Hulme told the court she feared she would get the baby taken off her due to a previous experience.
Sheriff Peter Paterson said her fears were eventually realised which was a significant punishment in itself.
He added it was a stupid thing to do and the woman was fined £150.
Her partner had a not guilty plea to the same charge accepted by the Crown.
