FINES totalling more than £1,000 have been imposed on a Borders woman who admitted biting two police officers on the body to their injury.
Twenty-three-year-old Nicola Steedman, of Eyemouth, pleaded guilty to the assaults in the town's Manse Road on October 5, 2020, and also behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.
Procurator fiscal Alison Atkins told Jedburgh Sheriff Court that Steedman first came to the attention of police officers on mobile patrol at around 10pm when she appeared to be acting in a frantic manner.
At 11pm in Manse Road she became disorderly in the company of family and friends and was highly intoxicated.

Police officers arrived but she continued struggling and lashing out.
With great difficulty they managed to handcuff her and as she was being led to the police vehicle she blew saliva from her mouth.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said the first offender's only explanation was she was under stress at the time and had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol.
He said the factory operator at Farne Salmon was in a position to pay a fine.
Steedman was fined £350 on each of the three charges she faced totalling £1,050 and a £75 Victim Surcharge was added.
