A BORDERS man who assaulted his partner by putting his hands around her throat has been ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Lee Inglis, of Hawick, pleaded guilty to the assault at the house in the town's Fairhurst Drive last month.
He also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour at his mother's home in Hawick during which he took possession of a knife and threatened to kill his former partner.
Defence lawyer Ed Hulme said his client had recognised he was losing control and had asked his mother to contact the police.
A non-harassment order involving the former partner was imposed for six months.
