TWO men have been arrested following a report of a bogus caller incident at the home of an 85-year-old man in Galashiels, according to police.
The incident took place between Tuesday 18 January and Friday, 21 January 2022,
The men who are aged 27 and 53 years have been charged and released on an undertaking to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court at a later date.
A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
Officers are now reminding people not to let callers into their house unless they have an appointment and have confirmed they’re genuine traders.
They say that if you’re in any doubt, ask them to come back at a later date or when someone else is home - genuine callers won’t mind rearranging.
Anyone who thinks that there is a bogus caller is in their area should call 101 or 999.
