THE Met Office has ramped up a wind warning to amber for parts of the Borders.
Yellow alerts were issued by the forecasters covering the entirety of the region over the weekend.
And now Saturday’s warning has been increased to amber, with Storm Malik “bringing a period of very strong winds and disruption”.
The updated Met Office alert covers the north and north east of the Borders from 7am-3pm.

A spokesperson said: “An area of very strong west or northwest winds will cross Scotland on Saturday morning in association with Storm Malik before easing during the afternoon.
“The strongest winds are expected in the east of Scotland later in the morning. Gusts of widely 50-60mph are likely with a short period of gusts in excess of 75mph, particularly for Moray and north Aberdeenshire as well as the Lothians.”
Injuries and danger to life could occur from flying debris, according to the forecasters.
