THREE recycling centres in the Borders are shut to the public today (January 29) due to “high winds”.
The Met Office issued parts of the region with an amber weather warning yesterday with fears that Storm Malik could bring gusts “in excess of 75mph”.
And Scottish Borders Council has confirmed that the community recycling facilities in Langlee, Hawick and Eyemouth will be closed for the day.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: “High winds of up to 60mph are expected throughout today with the potential for gusts in excess of 75mph in some places before gradually easing off into the afternoon.
“There is also the potential for disruption to coastal communities with beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, roads and properties.
“Residents are encouraged to be prepared for the conditions, with the Met Office warning of the potential for power cuts, damage to buildings and some travel disruption throughout the warning period.”
