REPAIR works on a Borders school are being carried out after it was damaged during stormy conditions over the weekend.
High winds hit the region as Storms Malik and Corrie swept across Scotland.
Roads across the Borders were forced to shut due to the conditions, while some properties remained without power at the start of the week.
Giving an update on the situation in the region, John Curry – the council’s director of infrastructure and environment – said that Leader Valley School, Earlston, was one of a number of buildings to be damaged in the storms.
“Work has been ongoing to assess and deal with the impact of the adverse weather over the past few days," said Mr Curry.

“Some of our community recycling centres were closed temporarily but returned to normal operations on Sunday.
“There has been storm damage to a number of buildings across our estate and we are undertaking necessary repairs, such as those required to Leader Valley School in Earlston.
“The school sustained minor damage to its roof but was made wind and watertight and opened as normal on Monday morning.
“Our staff also worked incredibly hard throughout the weekend to ensure any impacted roads were cleared and this work will be ongoing until the few remaining issues are resolved.
“A number of power outages were reported to Scottish Power Energy Networks who worked to resolve these.”
