A MOTORIST who was almost five times the legal alcohol limit when he crashed his vehicle has been banned from the road for 14 months at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Forty-seven-year-old David Atkinson pleaded guilty to driving with an alcohol/ urine count of 313 microgrammes – the legal limit being 67 – on the A6112 road near Mount Pleasant, Duns, on February 28 last year.
The court heard Atkinson had been staying in Jedburgh but left to head home to Dunbar when he lost control of his vehicle which rolled and ended up on its roof.
Depute fiscal Joanna Waller said: "He was taken to Borders general Hospital for assessment and urine samples were taken."
