PUPILS at a Peeblesshire school have highlighted the climate crisis with a walk through the community, handing out leaflets.
Last week the young climate activists from St Ronan’s Primary School took to the streets in Innerleithen to raise awareness of climate change.
And the youngsters also gave leaflets to passersby and displayed handmade signs featuring a range of environmental messages.
Dawn Taylor, depute headteacher at St Ronan’s said: “The group are very passionate about sharing their climate message.
“They have been involved in organising and planning the event showing great initiative, independence and leadership.
“This learning has linked in really well with COP26 and the children’s passion for the environment, but has also supported the development of our school core skills for learning, life and work.
“The children are all from our Primary 7 cohort within the school and have led art lessons and learning activities within their classrooms in order to raise awareness around protecting the environment.
“They have also organised and advertised the local awareness walk around the community.
“The walk today is taking place both around the school and the local community and is a way for them to share their important message.
“We are very proud of them here at St Ronan’s Primary School.”
