A NUMBER of bus services in the Borders have been cancelled due to “safety concerns” around Storm Dudley.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning set to come into effect at 4pm today (February 16), with winds potentially rising to 90mph.

Borders Buses has now announced that some of its services will not go ahead due to the forecasted conditions.

Here are the cancelled journeys:

X62

  • 7.55pm Galashiels to Peebles (8.39pm) onto Edinburgh arriving at 10.01pm
  • 10.20pm Edinburgh to Peebles (11.35pm) onto Galashiels arriving at 12.16am
  • 9.25pm Galashiels to Peebles arriving at 10.09pm
  • 10.12pm Peebles to Galashiels arriving at 10.57pm

X95

  • 9.25pm Hawick to Galashiels arriving at 9.49pm
  • 10.30pm Galashiels to Hawick arriving at 11.05pm

The following X62 journeys are operating as normal:

  • 5.25pm Galashiels to Peebles (6.11pm) onto Edinburgh arriving at 7.18pm
  • 6.25pm Galashiels to Peebles arriving at 7.09pm
  • 6.50pm Edinburgh to Peebles (8.03pm) onto Galashiels arriving at 8.46pm
  • 7.25 Galashiels to Peebles arriving at 8.09pm
  • 7.50pm Edinburgh to Peebles (9.05pm) onto Galashiels arriving at 9.46pm
  • 8.25pm Galashiels to Peebles arriving at 9.09pm

Normal service up until 8pm on the X95 with the last bus as follows:

  • 8.15pm Hawick to Galashiels arriving at 8.49pm
  • 9.30pm Galashiels to Hawick arriving at 10.05pm

A Borders Buses spokesperson said: “We are not considering any further service reductions but this may change depending on the weather conditions and advice as the day progresses.”

Meanwhile, train services across Scotland will wind down from 4pm today due to the forecast.

A ScotRail spokesperson said: “With heavy rain and high winds set to hit Scotland, our train services will cease running early on Wednesday afternoon as a safety precaution.

“Rail services will be wound down by 4pm on Wednesday when the worst of Storm Dudley is expected to sweep across the country.

“ScotRail services on the Far North, Kyle of Lochalsh, and Aberdeen-Inverness lines will continue to run. Some cross-border services will operate too, but at reduced speeds.”

The train operator is advising to check your journey before setting out.
