Weather permitting Celtic will visit Netherdale on Saturday to face Gala Fairydean Rovers in a Lowland League fixture.
Both teams go into the game on the back of good results. On Tuesday Gala demolished league leaders Bonnyrigg Rose with a comprehensive 5-1 victory in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup whilst Celtic B beat Vale of Leithen 4-0 at the Penny Cars Stadium last weekend.
Celtic are able to field talented youngsters like the highly-rated Karamoko Dembele and Bosun Lawal who signed from Watford for an estimated £150,000 and last-week’s hat trick hero Ben Summers.
Assistant manager Steve Craig is under no illusion about the size of the task ahead but is confident that Gala are more than capable of matching the full-timers.
Craig told us: Me and Jimmy (Martin Scott) will address the game exactly like we prepared for Bonnyrigg Rose on Tuesday. We want to win. We know how they will play and we will set out our stall. The last time we played them Jimmy can remember the tactics that hm and Neil Hastings put forward and we will do something similar. We just want to go and win the game and the game on Tuesday night just proves that we are more than capable of matching anybody in this league.
“I think the fact that Celtic and Rangers are in the Lowland League is a great coup. They will bring supporters to the game and at this level the revenue is massive. I heard a rumour that Hearts might be putting a team in next year as well. So the case for having three Premier League teams gives our boys the chance to play against the likes of Dembele and players like that.
After their 4-0 victory over Vale of Leithen Celtic boss Tommy McIntyre told Celtic TV: “Gala gave us a good game the last time we played them. I thought they looked to play a little bit of football. For us we always want to finish and score more goals and we want to do that so we will have to work hard in the final third. But some of our goals (against Vale) were outstanding.”
