THE Borders has recorded 697 new cases of coronavirus in the last day, according to new figures.
Scottish Government data was published at 2pm today (March 1).
And the updated statistics show that the Borders has now recorded 22,600 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020.
According to Public Health Scotland (PHS) from today reported case figures will now include reinfections.
PHS says that reinfection "are defined as individuals who test positive 90 days or more after their last positive test".
Prior to this change cases only included a person's first positive result.
There are 20 people in hospital in the region – two fewer than yesterday.
Scotland has seen 1,458,444 cases since the start of the pandemic, according to the figures.
