A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been remanded in custody at Selkirk Sheriff Court after admitting theft and assaulting a shop worker.
Glen Todd, of Boonraw Road, Hawick, appeared from custody and pleaded guilty to the theft charge.
He also assaulted a worker engaged at the time in retail work which was in breach of the new legislation covered by the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-Restricted Goods and Services) Scotland Act 2021.
Todd pleaded guilty to a third charge of possession of a class A drug.
Sentence was deferred until March 14 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court for the production of background reports and after bail was refused, he was remanded in custody until that date.
