THE Borders has recorded 179 new cases of coronavirus, according to new figures.
Scottish Government data was published at 2pm today (March 17).
And the updated statistics show that the Borders has now recorded 26,172 cases of COVID-19 since March 2020.
Data released today does not cover a 24-hour period, however, as Public Health Scotland experienced further technical issues, meaning data was not collected from 2pm on March 16.
A statement on today's update says: "Figures reported on 17/03/2022 cover less than a 24 hour period. This is due to a reoccurrence of the technical issue from earlier in the week, meaning data has not been processed since 2pm on 16/03/2022."
There are 46 people in hospital in the region – two more than yesterday.
Scotland has seen 1,643,664 cases since the start of the pandemic, according to the figures.
