PARTS of the Borders have been issued with a yellow warning for ice tonight.
According to the Met Office, from 8pm this evening (March 30) until 10am tomorrow morning (March 31) the region could see snow and hail turn roads icy.
The official body has warned that there are risks of injuries on untreated surfaces and that travel times could be increased.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Further wintry showers overnight Wednesday and early Thursday may lead to fairly widespread icy patches, particularly on untreated surfaces.
"Some accumulations of snow are also possible, particularly across eastern Scotland and hillier areas of northeast England. 1-2 cm accumulations are possible mainly above 100 m, with 5 cm over parts of Scotland, Northumberland and the North York Moors above 200-300 m."
According to the Met Office's warning impact matrix this yellow warning for ice has a medium likelihood and low impact.
Areas which are expected to be affected by this warning include Peebles, Innerleithen, Galashiels, Melrose and Selkirk.
