LINE of Duty star Martin Compston swapped AC12 for TD1 on Friday but he wasn’t looking for ‘bent coppers’ in the Scottish Borders.

Instead the 37-year-old actor, famous for his depiction of anti-corruption Detective Inspector Steve Arnott in the hugely popular show, was filming ‘Scottish Fling’ a brand new, six-part travel documentary about what makes modern Scotland tick.

He was spotted on Channel Street in Galashiels by eagle-eyed local councillor Euan Jardine and after interrogation he revealed the reason for his visit to the town.

The show, which is being made by Scottish production company Tern Television, has been commissioned by BBC Scotland.

It follows Compston and his TV presenter pal Phil MacHugh on an unforgettable trip across the country to find out how the nation is being shaped by its people and landscape.

Speaking about the show Compston said: "I've travelled all over the country for work and leisure - but this is the first time I'll be meeting real modern Scots on camera, sharing their thoughts and passions.
