SOME delays and traffic disruption is anticipated this week as essential maintenance work is scheduled on the Galafoot Bridge just outside Galashiels.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed at either end of the bridge from 9.30am until 3.30pm each day.
The work involves cleaning bearing shelves and repairing a waterproofing patch.
Yesterday, Tuesday April 19 2022 traffic heading out of Galashiels on the A6091 was regularly queued back past the Kingsknowes Roundabout and traffic heading toward the town was queued back to the Abbotsford Roundabout.
A Spokesperson for Bear Scotland told the Border Telegraph: “We have a team cleaning bearing shelves below the structure from Tuesday April 19 until Thursday April 21 and then on Friday April 22 we will be doing a small localised waterproofing patch repair, again under traffic lights.
“Traffic restrictions will only be in place during off-peak hours.
“The temporary traffic lights will be removed at 15.30 each day and then put back out again at 09.30 each morning.”
