THE Borders has been given a yellow weather warning for thunder this afternoon.
From 1pm today (June 8) until 8pm the region is expected to get slow moving showers and thunderstorms.
There is also the risk of flooding, hail storms, lightning and some delays to transport.
The warning comes with a medium impact but a very low likelihood according to the Met Office's impact matrix.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "Following the clearance of overnight rain, this area is likely to see the development of slow moving showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
"Although many places will miss the heaviest showers a few places could see in excess of 30mm of rain in a couple of hours, possibly accompanied by lightning and hail, which would be enough to cause difficult driving conditions and localised surface water flooding."
Areas in the Borders which could be affected include Peebles, Galashiels, Melrose, Selkirk and Innerleithen.
