IT’S been a busy 12 months for the Tweedbank Thistle Football Club in the first full season of football since the covid outbreak and despite the challenges the pandemic has brought, the club has continued to go from strength to strength.
The club now has over 160 registered players from Primary 1- for both boys and girls.
The club prides itself in being a community club providing affordable football and a player pathway for every child no matter their ability or background.
They have teams playing through all age groups in the SBJFA arranged fixtures against other teams in the Scottish Borders.
The club also recently passed its re-accreditation to the SFA’s Bronze Quality mark standard and have over 25 qualified SFA coaches.
This year with the help from The Scottish Football Partnership & Trust they purchased a defibrillator which is located at the club hut.
With support from their generous sponsors they were also able to provide all players with a rain jacket.
Football top and hoodies are aso provided by the club.
The P7’s recently had a fully funded leavers trip to Foxlake Adventures which was great fun for both the players and coaches.
Popular fund raising events such as the annual sponsored riverside walk and raffle also helped the club support local charities such as the Radio Borders Christmas cash for kids appeal with gifts donated both from the club and the kids and the recent Ukraine humanitarian appeal by local Scottish Borders resident Jacek Zwizchlewski with £300 donated.
The club just completed two successful free taster sessions for the kids who will be starting school after the summer.
If your child missed out and would like to join the club on our return in August please contact the club mobile for more details – 07936494067.
