MOTORISTS in the Borders have been issued a warning ahead of a closure on a major road.
The A1 near Innerwick is set to undergo five nights of resurfacing works scheduled from September 19-23.
The southbound carriageway will be closed between 7.30pm and 6am on each night of the works, according to road officials.
A signed diversion route will be in place, directing traffic from the A720, A68, A697 and A6105 to rejoin the A1 at the Berwick-upon-Tweed bypass.

Northbound traffic using the A1 will remain unaffected, say officials.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the A1.
“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve scheduled them to take place overnight to minimise disruption.
“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”
