A PEEBLES man has been fined a total of £500 following a domestic-related incident at a house in the town’s Kingsland Square on April 17.
Fifty-four-year-old William Jarvis pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner to her injury by pushing her on the body and grabbing her by the throat causing red marks on her neck.
He also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour and adopting an aggressive attitude towards the woman.
Defence lawyer Mat Patrick told Selkirk Sheriff Court it was a sad situation all round and the relationship had not been a healthy one for some time with tensions over finances.
Jarvis was fined £250 on each of the two charges with a £20 victim surcharge.
In addition, a two-year Non Harassment Order was imposed preventing him from having any contact with the woman apart from by electronic means for child care.
