A 43-YEAR-OLD man was found in possession of offensive weapons in a Borders public house.
Nuno Tavares armed himself with a wooden stomp as he was trying to protect his barmaid partner following a disturbance in the White Swan public house in Duns.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told he was brandishing it at patrons standing in the corridor.
When police arrived on the scene they searched him and found a Stanley knife in his pocket.
Sheriff Peter Paterson told the first offender there had been provocation in the case and fined him a total of £300 on the two charges with a £20 victim surcharge.
